Sonic Youth emerged out of the noise rock movement in 1981 New York City and played their final show as a band in 2011 in Brazil. Almost nothing about Sonic Youth could be deemed conventional and their undeniable influence is evident in all modern rock.

Sonic Youth - Goo (1990)

Sonic Youth’s Goo is the band’s sixth studio album and their first major-label release on Geffen Records, following the success of Daydream Nation (1988). A true ’90s anthem from start to finish, Goo helped define the musical landscape the decade had in store. The Kim Gordon-led “Kool Thing” and “My Friend Goo” bring an edgier, lightheartedness to the album while still staying true to the band’s signature avant-garde melodic vibe.
